The original squeezable Kinetic Sand you can't put down since it flows through fingers just like real sand and leaves them completely dry. By pressing together, you could create a lot of shapes with it.

Kinetic sand is a special kind of sand that allows motion and movement. It's mess-free and almost effortless to clean up since it always returns to its original state.

It was the prospective development engineers Jonas Modell and Staffan Thuresson, who invented Kinetic Sand in 1994, making it 26 years old to date. They are from Sweden and from Delta of Sweden, a company that since 1997 pioneered in the sand category specializing in the activity toys market and is today an innovative materials technology company developing compounds based on proprietary technologies.

Their kinetic sand products are geared towards the educational and therapeutic markets.

Kinetic sand was officially launched by Delta of Sweden in 1997.

They are the first company that found the magical 2% that would go with the 98% regular sand that would make it moldable like wet sand. The result gave birth to movable, reshapeable sand that doesn't dry out and is not degradable, and would only stick to itself.

The invention of Jonas Modell and Staffan Thuresson is unique sand that is coated with a nano-thin layer of polydimethylsiloxane or silicone oil.

They opted for a new strategy in 2005 to just be a subcontractor to various licensees instead of selling kinetic sand under Delta of Sweden.

Spin Master, the largest Canadian toy giant, came was granted the production and trademark of Kinetic Sand in 2014.

Another big collaboration that year was with American Jeffrey Barnett, who got interested and heard of a Swedish product called Deltasand. It's a special sand that felt like wet sand but was completely dry.

He helped start Delta of North America, LLC. And the following year, together with David McCloskey, formed WABA Fun in 2003.

Today, the company became known for Kinetic Sand and Superstructs, cool building sets for children 3 and older.

Kinetic sand with dilatant material made from ultrafine sand and polydimethylsiloxane or silicone oil is marketed by Waba Fun, LLC.

Both these ventures and collaboration were successful up to this present day. Kids everywhere in the United States and more than 50 countries around the world patronized and continue to patronize this wonderful invention that provides unlimited hours of creative and sensory fun play.

After Thoughts

Kinetic Sand might be younger than the other iconic and legendary toys, but it remains consistent on the top because of all its amazing qualities that kids just love.

I am one of the people who believe that the original is always the best and second to none.
