Yes, kinetic sand could be mix with colors although, kinetic sand can't dry out completely as play sand does since it's meant to be moist. Therefore the color would stay moist and not permanently adhere to the sand.

Moist kinetic sand with color added will probably stain your child's hands temporarily. They sell white sand at craft stores, which would take coloring better and make the color more authentic than regular tan colored sand.
